HONOLULU — Ceremonies honoring fallen troops and their families will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific this weekend.

HONOLULU — Ceremonies honoring fallen troops and their families will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific this weekend.

The Nisei Veterans Legacy Center will honor fallen World War II Japanese-American soldiers and veterans at Punchbowl Sunday morning.

The memorial service honors those killed while serving in four segregated units: the 100th Infantry Battalion, the 44nd Regimental Combat Team, the Military Intelligence Service and the 1399 Engineer Construction Battalion.

Later Sunday morning, another ceremony will be held to honor mothers and families of fallen service members.

Gold Star Mothers and Families will place the boots of their loved ones and 40 wreaths of honor at the foot of the Lady Columbia statue.

Gold Star Mothers and Families include anyone whose loved one has died while serving in the military.
